Gordon and Sandra Metzger are announcing the availability of handcrafts from Africa, India, and Bolivia for local church sales.
As part of the CA-NV partnership with the West Angola Methodist Conference, African handcrafts were added to the Bolivian Handcraft Project in May 2004. African handcrafts come from several different countries and tribes and have been bought with the help of UM Volunteers in Missions Teams. Money raised from African crafts will help buy materials for UMVIM teams to use on projects in West Angola Conference.
In addition to handcrafts from India and Bolivia, recent additions by UMVIM teams include items from China with profits used to provide lunch tickets for Western Farm School students whose parents are too poor to pay for lunches.
You can participate in this mission by scheduling a sale at your church. Goods will be shipped to you by UPS, with an inventory list and instructions to help with your sale. All items will be priced, including tax. Display and sell items, then promptly return unsold articles and payment for items sold, paying the shipping costs back to Sonoma. Contact:

Lower Lake Concern
The Food Closet at Lower Lake that serves from 200 to 300 people a month is in need of funds. Donations may be put in the white envelopes in the pews or given to Barbara Parker. This is a vital need in our community. It is for emergency situations and a family may only come once a month. If you have extra produce from your garden, this is always appreciated.
From Fall River Mills ...
On a recent Sunday at the Fall River Mills UMC, Nathaniel Pinkney York, age eighteen, gave a compelling sermon on the subject of responsibility. He followed the sermon with an intricate and beautiful Bach piano solo.
Nathaniel currently resides with the York family at Hillcrest, above Montgomery Creek. He plays keyboard for the church they started in the Montgomery Creek School Auditorium. Nathaniel worked this summer at the Wildlife Rescue ranch at Big Bend, and plans to attend Shasta College this year. Nathaniel came to live with his grandparents, Lloyd and Arneta Crossman, in Fall River Mills where his grandmother gave him piano lessons. The United Methodist Church in Fall River Mills became his home church and he received much love and support from our “dear and older congregation” and they applauded his every success, and particularly his increasing piano abilities. He plays keyboard for the church and has a job at a Wildlife Rescue mission.
