Ethel Mae Spellman

A memorial service will be held for Ethel Mae Stephens Spellman on Saturday, Dec. 9th at 11:0 A.M. at the Smith River UMC. Born 1914 in West Virginia, she died Nov. 25th 2006 in Crescent City. She was a 33-year resident of Del Norte County. She married Clarence Spellman in 1934 and they had 54 wonderful years together. As a minister’s wife, she assisted in church duties in West Virginia, Massachusetts, Montana and California. The Rev. Clarence Spellman was appointed to the Smith River UMC in 1973. He died in 1988 in Smith River. Mrs. Spellman is survived by her son, Bryan Douglas Spellman, and his partner, Gary W. Pitts, nephew Donald Ray Stephen, all of Missoula, Montana.
